Aargh! is a physics game developed by HitRock and published by Armor Games. It has you play as a pirate captain who's tasked with commanding your very own warship to take down enemy pirates.

Gameplay[]

Aargh! has a map full of 16 levels that are unlocked one after another. Each one has you fight against an enemy, and every few levels a new stronger enemy is introduced. During the battle, you and your enemy take turns firing at each other to try and hit the other's ship; whoever's ship runs out of health first loses. Both you and your enemy have a variety of weapons to choose from when attacking; you start with only three available but can unlock more by beating levels. You also earn stars from beating levels; these stars can be used to buy upgrades that can make you stronger.

Weapons[]

  • Cannonball: The standard weapon, and the only one that has infinite ammo. Available from the start of the game.
  • Bomb: An explosive projectile that deals more damage. Available from the start of the game.
  • Buckshot: A volley of five tiny cannonballs that can deal considerable damage if all of them hit their target. Available from the start of the game.
  • Firebolt: A flaming arrow that sets the target ablaze, causing them to take damage over time for a few turns. Unlocked after beating Level 1.
  • Rum: A barrel of rum that severely reduces the target's accuracy for a few turns. Unlocked after beating Level 2.
  • Ice: A big ice cube that freezes the target for a few turns, preventing them from moving. Unlocked after beating Level 4.
  • Seagulls: A trained seagull carrying a bomb that flies over to the target and divebombs them. Unlocked after beating Level 6.
  • TNT: A stronger explosive that deals even more damage and has a bigger blast radius. Explodes even if it hits the water. Unlocked after beating Level 7.
  • Penguin: A trained penguin carrying TNT that will swim directly to your target if you miss your shot. Unlocked after beating Level 8.
  • Boarding Hook: A grappling hook that lets you latch on to the enemy's ship and board it if you're close enough; this deals heavy damage to the target. Unlocked after beating Level 10.
  • Kraken: Summons the Kraken to whack the target twice with a tentacle, dealing heavy damage. Unlocked after beating Level 12.
  • Lightning: A magic attack that automatically strikes the target and deals very heavy damage. Unlocked after buying the Ancient Knowledge upgrade.

Upgrades[]

  • Better Ship: Upgrades your ship's armor, increasing its health.
  • Better Weapons: Makes your weapons deal more damage.
  • Sail: Increases the number of times you can move during your turn.
  • More Ammo: Gives you more ammo for each of your weapons.
  • Repair: Lets you repair your ship during battle to restore some health.
  • Ancient Knowledge: Unlocks Lightning.

Enemies[]

  • Jimmy Wales: A pirate who stole your gold while you were passed out drunk at the tavern. He has a standard ship armed with only the most basic weapons. Encountered in Levels 1-3.
    • Pirate Fort: A mid-sized fort occupied by Jimmy Wales and his band of pirates, encountered in Level 4. It uses some stronger weapons, but aside from that it's not much tougher than the standard battles against Jimmy Wales.
  • Pierre Gibson: A French corsair who is in league with Jimmy Wales. He has a stronger ship with a more durable hull and more powerful weapons. Encountered in Levels 5-7.
    • French Fort: A large fortress that is home to Pierre Gibson and his fellow Frenchmen, encountered in Level 8. It not only uses a variety of strong weapons, but also gets to attack twice every time it takes a turn.
  • Jack Black: A legendary pirate lord who wants to get rid of you so he can have all the treasure in the land for himself. He has an even bigger, stronger ship with a very durable hull and extra-powerful weapons. Encountered in Levels 9-11.
  • Kraken: A giant sea monster that is very powerful. It attacks with its tentacles, and attacks six times per turn. It can also sometimes shield itself with its tentacles to make it harder to hit. Encountered in Level 12.
  • Jolly Roger: An undead pirate with mystical powers who summoned the Kraken so he could get a head start on finding the hidden treasure. He has a huge ghostly ship that is more durable than any other ship and has access to nearly every weapon in the game (as well as Repair). Encountered in Levels 13-15.
    • Skull Cave: A haunted cave which is Jolly Roger's hideout, encountered in Level 16. Not only does it attack twice per turn, but it can also sometimes summon the previous three pirates for backup; the pirates will each come towards you in small rowboats and board your ship if they get close enough. The Skull Cave also has access to Repair and nearly every weapon in the game. After the Skull Cave's health is depleted, Jolly Roger will come out on his ship, forcing you to battle his ship.
