Anchovy Assault is an arcade flash game developed by Sarbakan for Nickelodeon's website. It involves defending the Krusty Krab from robot anchovies by kicking them as far as possible to score points.
Controls[]
- Space Bar: Raise power, throw objects
Gameplay[]
In Anchovy Assault, you play as either SpongeBob, Squidward, or Mr. Krabs, and are tasked with warding off robot anchovies built by Plankton by kicking them into the air. Each round of Anchovy Assault starts with the robot anchovy walking towards your character, giving you a few seconds to mash the space bar as much as possible to build up strength to kick the anchovy further. Once the anchovy reaches your character, he'll kick the anchovy, sending it flying. While the anchovy is in the air, you can press the space bar to have your character throw objects at the anchovy to knock it higher in the air, but you have to time it properly; an aiming meter with a moving cursor is present beneath the anchovy, and you have to press the space bar while the cursor is in the green zone or else your character will miss the shot. Once the anchovy hits the ground, the game records the distance it travelled and shows you your score.
Anchovy Assault has two different modes to choose from: Free-Play Mode and Contest Mode. Free-Play Mode can be played with either one player or two players, and the only goal is to kick the robot anchovy as far as possible. If playing with two players, each player gets a turn to kick the anchovy, and whichever player gets the higher score wins the round. Contest Mode is a single player mode where you play several rounds in a row, with each one requiring you to kick the anchovy a certain distance in order to move on to the next round. If you don't kick the anchovy far enough to advance, you have the option to either retry the round or give up; the game ends if you don't beat a round in three tries.
Trivia[]
- The design for the robot anchovies in this game was reused in Nick Dodgers and Bubble Bros.
