Bloons 2 is a game in the Bloons series, and one of the sequels to the original Bloons. As it's one of the more recent sequels, Bloons 2 boasts significant improvements both in graphics and in gameplay, but the basic premise is still the same: you play as a dart-wielding monkey who must confront elaborate formations of Bloons and must pop as many of them as possible to pass each level.
Gameplay[]
Bloons 2 contains a total of 100 levels; there are 96 normal levels spread out across eight different worlds, and then there are four secret levels that are unlocked after all the normal levels have been beaten. In each level, your job is to get the monkey standing on a floating platform to throw darts to pop enough Bloons to reach the level's target amount. Each level also gives you a certain number of darts to throw; once you run out of darts, the number of Bloons you've popped determines if you can move on to the next level or not. If you reach or exceed the target amount of popped Bloons by the time you run out of darts, you unlock the next level; otherwise, you have to retry the current level.
If you're having difficulty getting past a level, there are a couple of options you can take. You can either use the Level Solution option to have the game show you the solution to beating the current level, or you can use the Level Skip option to convert the monkey into a Super Monkey who can destroy absolutely everything with his laser vision.
Being a puzzle game, most levels contain various different Bloon types that trigger all sorts of effects when popped, as well as obstacles that can impede your darts.
Worlds[]
- Popping Fields: A grassland area set in a rural region. It features levels with fairly basic formations.
- Bloon Dunes: A desert canyon area which introduces some new mechanics, such as the Bee Bloons and Perished Rubber Blocks.
- Frosty Fun: An arctic area whose levels heavily feature Ice Bloons, and also introduces other things like the Ace Bloons.
- Sneak Peaks: A mountain area that introduces the Camo Bloons and features them prominently.
- Rubber Jungle: A jungle area with more elaborate formations.
- The Temple of Bloon: A temple area whose levels feature large amounts of obstacles.
- Crazy Coast: A beach area with even more elaborate formations.
- Mount Magma: A volcano area with very complex formations.
- Secret Zone: A secret shipwreck-themed area with the most complex levels of all.
Bloon Types[]
- Normal Bloon: The standard Bloon, which appears in different colors and doesn't do anything when popped.
- Camo Bloon: A camouflage-patterned Bloon that sometimes turns invisible, gradually fading in and out of visibility. Can only be popped when it's visible.
- Bloom Bloon: Releases seven normal Bloons when popped.
- Layer Bloon: A spotted Bloon that has multiple layers and has to be hit multiple times to be popped depending on its color. Green Layer Bloons take three hits to pop, Pink Layer Bloons take two hits, and Yellow Layer Bloons only take one.
- Ice Bloon: Releases a burst of frost when popped, freezing all nearby Bloons. Frozen Bloons can't be popped by most things.
- Dart Bloon: Gives you an extra dart when popped.
- Tack Bloon: Shoots a volley of tacks in eight directions, popping any Bloon hit by the tacks.
- Bomb Bloon: Explodes when popped, destroying all nearby Bloons (including frozen ones). The Bomb Bloon's explosion has a bigger range than a Tack Bloon's tack volley but cancels out most special Bloons' effects, which may be good or bad for you depending on the circumstances.
- Triple Dart Bloon: Turns your next shot into a triple shot when popped, letting you throw a volley of three darts.
- Boomerang Bloon: Gives you a boomerang for your next shot when popped; the boomerang flies in the direction it was thrown for a few seconds before returning to the monkey.
- Ace Bloon: Lets you summon a Monkey Ace to fly across the screen and pop every Bloon in his path. You can choose where the Monkey Ace flies by clicking at a desired point on the screen to determine the Ace's altitude and direction when flying.
- Spiky Bloon: Drops a spiky ball when popped; the spiky ball pops Bloons on contact and can bounce off of Rubber Blocks just like a dart.
- Bee Bloon: Summons a swarm of bees that fly wherever your cursor is and pop any Bloon they touch for a few seconds before disappearing.
- Gravity Bloon: Reverses gravity, making it so that all projectiles (darts, boomerangs, and spiky balls) will fall up instead of down. Popping another Gravity Bloon while gravity is reversed will return the gravity to normal.
Obstacles[]
- Metal Block: An indestructible block that stops your darts.
- Tile Block: Similar to a Metal Block, but breaks and disappears after being hit by a dart or other object.
- Ceramic Block: Same as a Tile Block, but takes two hits to be destroyed in instead of one.
- Rubber Block: Causes any dart that hits it to bounce off.
- Perished Rubber Block: Same as a normal Rubber Block, but disintegrates after getting hit by a dart or other object.
