Destroy Earth! (or Not) is a defense game developed by Nickelodeon and released in 2011, based on the Fairly Oddparents episode "End of the Universe-ity". In this game, Timmy Turner must use his dark powers to stop the evil Dark Laser's robot minions from destroying Earth.
Controls[]
- Mouse: Click to attack
Plot[]
In an effort to try and turn Timmy Turner to the dark side, nefarious supervillain Dark Laser has imbued Timmy with dark powers in order to get the boy to abandon his morals. Timmy almost succumbs to the darkness but comes to his senses just as he's about to help Dark Laser destroy Earth, and turns against the villain. Outraged, Dark Laser calls forth his robot army to overrun Timmy...now it's up to Timmy and his fairies to keep the robots at bay and save the planet!
Gameplay[]
Destroy Earth! (or Not) is an endless game where you play as Timmy Turner and have to ward off Dark Laser's robots for as long as you can in order to prevent them from hitting the "Destroy Earth" button which activates Dark Laser's planet-destroying laser cannon. The robots will enter from the right side of the screen and make their way over to the left side where the button is located. To destroy the robots, you must use your dark powers to attack them in various ways; the majority of the dark attacks in your arsenal can be used at any time (albeit with a cooldown for some of them), but there's also an extra-powerful special attack that can only be used after collecting enough dark energy orbs to charge it up. Initially, only basic enemies will enter the battle area, but after a few waves some stronger enemies that can resist some of your attacks will start to appear.
Aside from your own dark attacks, Timmy's fairies - Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof - will sometimes show up as robot sentries and shoot lasers at the enemy robots; you can click on the fairies and drag them around to place them wherever they can take out the enemies most effectively. Be wary, though - if an enemy touches the fairies, they lose their sentry form and retreat from the battlefield, so try to protect them as best you can.
The game ends when one of the enemies reaches the "Destroy Earth" button; when this happens, a cutscene plays in which Dark Laser overpowers Timmy and presses the button, firing the laser. However, Timmy wishes for the laser to be deflected, which his fairies grant by summoning a giant mirror to send the laser back to Dark Laser's ship. Timmy and his fairies then teleport away as Dark Laser's ship is obliterated by its own laser. You are then shown a screen that reads "The Earth is saved" and displays your score.
Dark Powers[]
- Throw: Lets you click on enemies to pick them up and fling them around; the enemies take damage upon hitting the ground after being thrown. Has no cooldown.
- Punch: Lets you punch enemies, dealing heavy damage at close range. Has a shorter cooldown.
- Slam: Lets you slam the ground, damaging all nearby enemies. Has a longer cooldown.
- Special: Lets you unleash a surge of dark energy that destroys every enemy onscreen. Can only be used after collecting enough dark energy orbs.
Enemies[]
- Minion-Bot: A standard enemy that has no outstanding abilities.
- Magno-Bot: An improved version of the Minion-Bot that has a magnetic base, making it immune to the Throw ability since it can stick itself to the ground.
Trivia[]
- The game's title screen uses the same format used for the titles of the Star Wars films. This is in reference to the fact that Dark Laser himself is an homage to Darth Vader, a well-known villain in the Star Wars series.
