Plot[]
THIS SECTION CONTAINS SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
After defeating the demon god Akron and saving the world from destruction, Matt, Natalie, and Lance are hailed as heroes and become living legends. They then go on to pillage towns for a living, knowing full well they can get away with it considering their act of heroism. Nonetheless, this behavior makes the group quite infamous. One day, a sacred jewel is stolen from the village of Greenwood, which is very bad news as local legends say terrible things will happen if the jewel falls into the wrong hands. Anna, a young ranger who lives in Greenwood, decides to track the trio down, as they were spotted near the village and are thus prime suspects. Venturing out into the neighboring Ashwood Forest, Anna finds the group and confronts them, only to find that although they did raid Greenwood, they didn't take the sacred jewel. After Anna explains the importance of recovering the jewel, the trio agrees to help her. This leads them to the edge of the forest, where they challenge a giant treant named Mighty Oak who, as the forest's guardian, fights the heroes to test their strength. After defeating Might Oak, he lets them travel beyond the forest and even joins the team (as one of Anna's Limit Breaks).
The party continues into Crystal Caverns to try and find traces of the culprit behind the jewel theft. Deep inside the caverns, they run into a Crystal Golem and are forced to destroy it. Afterwards, they're ambushed by a mysterious cat-like spirit who claims that cats will soon rule the world again. The group barely survives, and Anna thinks she knows what it was. She urges the group to hurry over to the town of Whitefall, which houses another sacred jewel. By the time they get there, the Whitefall jewel is already gone, and Lance demands an explanation for the significance of these jewels. Anna complies, and explains the legend of Godcat - a cat-like deity who created the world and all its inhabitants, making cats the dominant species. As rulers of the earth, the cats were able to build great civilizations and create advanced technology, but Godcat became jealous of them after they started getting too friendly with humans. Out of envy over the bond between cats and humans, Godcat destroyed everything the cats had built and turned them into limbless creatures. She then abandoned Earth, leaving behind three jewels filled with immense power. The humans, believing that Godcat would return if these jewels were brought together, took measures to keep them far apart from each other. The group theorizes that whoever stole the Greenwood and Whitefall jewels might be trying to use them to resurrect Godcat to have her attack the planet again. Anna points out that the last of the three sacred jewels is in Goldenbrick, a town further north, and they'll need a hammer to get there as the path is blocked by stone barriers.
Unsure of where to find a hammer, the group enters a Waste Disposal Plant, only to discover that the factory has been taken over by a rogue AI which is turning all the worker bots hostile. The party is forced to fight their way through hordes of the hostile bots, as well as some mutant creatures created by the toxic waste of the Plant. At the heart of the factory, the party discovers that the AI has even managed to corrupt the Plant's most powerful superweapon - an extremely powerful robot called the Praetorian. After a grueling battle, the group defeats the Praetorian and Lance reprograms it to fight for them (as a Summon). They then find the hammer and try to go north to get to Goldenbrick, only to find that the bridge to the desert town is broken. So, they decide to trek through Lankyroot Jungle to reach Goldenbrick via the longer route, and they battle lots of hostile jungle plants and creatures. Deep in the jungle, they're ambushed by Godcat again, this time appearing to them in a darker form. Once again, the group barely survives, and they continue through the jungle. Eventually, they run into a gigantic carnivorous plant called Rafflesia which turned out to be controlling all the jungle plants that attacked them. After defeating Rafflesia, the group rushes to Goldenbrick only to witness the third and final sacred jewel being stolen by a bunch of cats. The team tries their best to stop the cats, but some of them escape with the jewel and bring it to the ancient ruins of the Temple of Godcat. The heroes climb up the temple in hopes of getting the jewels back before Godcat is resurrected, but they're too late. Now at full power, Godcat engages the party in an epic battle, assaulting them with numerous enemies and multiple physical forms with devastating abilities. Despite the onslaught, the heroes stand their ground, and Godcat expresses surprise and awe at their undying courage and willingness to fight for their world, even with the odds against them. Ashamed of herself for the atrocities she committed and for misjudging humans, Godcat finally accepts that humans rule the earth now. She then departs from Earth once more, this time on a quest to create a new world for cats to make up for her previous failure as a mother to the cats.
Gameplay[]
As with EBF3, EBF4 has many elements found in a traditional RPG, and also vastly expands upon the gameplay structure that was set forth in EBF3. In this game, the goal is to explore the world map, fight enemies to gain XP, and find treasures. Much like EBF3, EBF4's map is divided into several different regions with widely varying environments and enemies. Most regions contain a boss at the end, but some do not, unlike in EBF3. EBF4's world map is also far less linear compared to the previous game's, as there are many secrets that require backtracking to be obtained. Additionally, each major region contains a Slime Cat allowing you to enter an area known as the Warp Zone, which allows you to teleport to any other region on the map as long as you've found and activated the Slime Cat of whichever region you wish to visit.
This game also features key items which are needed to advance to new parts of the game (an ax to cut down trees blocking paths, a candle to light torches to light up dark areas, etc.). Additionally, there are a myriad of NPCs that offer rewards in exchange for completing their sidequests. Some NPCs give minor rewards such as gold or consumable items, but others give you key items you need to advance further in the game. Due to the nature of this gameplay, EBF4 also includes a fully-implemented save feature, allowing you to save game data across seven slots, plus an autosave feature.
Battles play out much like in the previous three games; the player and enemy parties take turns using abilities to attack the other party, with the goal being to eliminate all waves of enemies before all of your party is killed. This time around, the team includes Matt, Natalie, Lance, and new character Anna. Because the party now consists of four characters when the most you can have out in battle is three, you have the option to swap characters in and out to create a more personalized strategy for yourself since each character functions differently.
Each of the characters has unique stats and abilities that can be utilized in battle. These abilities can be unlocked/upgraded using skill points you earn by leveling up your party. Some of these abilities are exclusive to one character in particular, but others can be assigned to multiple characters or even any character in the party. Some of these skills are Limit Breaks, super-powerful abilities that can only be used after a character has taken enough damage to fill up their rage meter. In this game, you can also make your characters "forget" skills to get your skill points back to use on other characters.
Normal vs. Magic Attack/Defense[]
Like most traditional JRPGs, EBF4 distinguishes damage dealt between normal and magic. Normal attack damage mainly concerns physical attacks, while magic attack damage usually comes from spells and magic-powered attacks. On a similar note, normal defense only reduces damage against normal attacks while magic defense only reduces damage against magic attacks.
Difficulty Settings[]
In EBF4, you can choose between four difficulty levels when starting a new game. This can be changed at any time in the game's pause menu.
- Easy: Enemy stats (specifically attack, magic attack, and health) are at 50%, and the party members' Limit Breaks charge faster than normal.
- Normal: Enemies have normal stats.
- Hard: Enemy stats are at 150%, the party members' Limit Breaks charge slower than normal, and enemies get other buffs too (note: on Battle Mountain, the game is forced to this difficulty).
- Epic: Enemies stats are at 200%, the party members' Limit Breaks charge even slower than normal, and enemies get other buffs too.

Stats[]
Like any RPG ever, EBF3 employs a system of stats which determine various aspects of the characters in your party as they do battle with enemies. These stats include:
- Health Points (HP): The maximum amount of damage a character can take before dying.
- Mana Points (MP): The maximum amount of mana a character can accumulate to consume for using skills in battle.
- Attack: The overall physical damage output of a character.
- Magic Attack: The overall magic damage output of a character.
- Defense: Reduces the amount of physical damage a character takes.
- Magic Defense: Reduces the amount of magic damage a character takes.
- Accuracy: The overall chance of a character successfully hitting an enemy with an attack.
- Evade: The overall chance of a character successfully dodging an enemy's attack.
Elements[]
As with the previous three installments, EBF4 features elements that can be channeled by both your party and enemies to provide different attack methods. All characters in the game can have elemental resistances and weaknesses. Just like in EBF3, both your party members and enemies can also absorb certain elements, allowing them to be healed if they get hit with an attack that uses an element they absorb! It's important to use these things to your advantage by using equips and skills that enemies are weak to in order to win battles more easily. The elements are as follows:
- Fire: Fire attacks, which can sometimes burn targets. Highly effective against Ice enemies, plants, and animals, but doesn't do well against Water enemies, robots, or Earth enemies.
- Thunder: Electric attacks, which can sometimes stun targets. Works great against Water enemies, robots, and flying enemies, but not so much for Earth enemies.
- Ice: Frost attacks, which can sometimes freeze targets. Effective against Earth, Water, and Fire enemies.
- Earth: Ground- and stone-based attacks, which tend to stun or stagger targets. Great at dealing with Ice and Lightning enemies, but not with flying or armored enemies.
- Poison: Deals almost exclusively in inflicting the Poison status on targets. Good for taking out animalistic enemies and enemies with high HP, but is useless against non-biological enemies (i.e. robots, the undead, and some Earth enemies).
- Bomb: Explosive attacks, which can sometimes stagger targets. Great against Earth and mechanical enemies, but not Ice and Fire enemies. Most enemies can't resist Bomb attacks.
- Wind: Air attacks, usually associated with speed and evasion. Attacks with this element are more accurate than most others and can sometimes stagger targets. Good for dealing with flying and Fire enemies easily, but is weak against Earth enemies.
- Water: Aquatic attacks, which usually make targets wet. Effective against Fire and Earth enemies.
- Holy: Light-themed attacks and "positive" magic. Aside from powerful attacks, this element is also associated with healing spells and status effects that weaken enemies' attacks and negate buffs. Being the opposite of Dark, it is both effective against and weak to Dark enemies.
- Dark: Dark and cosmic attacks, also associated with the supernatural/undead. It is the most destructive element in the game, and is both effective against and weak to Holy enemies.
Status Effects[]
Status Effects are special conditions that can be inflicted on any character during battle through various attacks. Some help characters through various means, while others bring harm. They are as follows:
- Attack Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's normal attacking power.
- Defense Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's normal defense.
- Magic Attack Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's magic attacking power.
- Magic Defense Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's magic defense.
- Accuracy Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's accuracy.
- Evade Up/Down: Increases or decreases the target's evade.
- Dispel: Removes any buffs and positive effects from the target.
- Stagger: The target is guaranteed to suffer a critical hit from the next attack it receives.
- Weaken: Debuffs the target's attack and magic attack by 10% each turn; ignores stat buffs and works alongside stat debuffs.
- Curse: Debuffs the target's defense and magic defense by 10% each turn; ignores stat buffs and works alongside stat debuffs.
- Tired: Debuffs the target's accuracy and evade by 10% each turn; ignores stat buffs and works alongside stat debuffs.
- Syphon: Prevents the target from using anything except normal physical attacks.
- Wet: The target takes double damage from Thunder and Ice attacks but half damage from Fire attacks, and is twice as likely to get Frozen by an Ice attack.
- Stun: The target is stunned and can't do anything.
- Freeze: The target is frozen in ice and can't do anything. The target takes extra damage if attacked while Frozen.
- Slimed: The target is transformed into a slime. In this state, the target can't take turns or catch items, and takes double damage. This effect can only be removed by having the effect wear off or by having the target die.
- Poison: The target loses some HP every turn.
- Burn: Same as Poison, but does less damage if the target has Fire resistance.
- Doom: Instantly kills the target after a few turns.
- Death: Instantly kills the target regardless of their HP.
- Random: Inflicts a random negative status effect on the target.
- Berserk: The target becomes more aggressive and does more damage . If a party member goes Berserk, that party member can't be controlled and will randomly attack an enemy with a powerful physical attack on the party's turn.
- Charge: The target becomes able to unleash an extra-powerful attack on the next turn.
- Defend: Halves all damage taken by the target on the next turn.
- Brave: Makes the target more likely to land critical hits, and makes the target immune to critical hits and attack/magic attack debuffs.
- Bless: Makes the target immune to negative status effects (but doesn't remove negative effects that were already applied to the target, and doesn't protect the target from self-inflicted effects).
- Morale: Prevents the target from being killed in one hit if its HP is at 49% or higher.
- Regen: Automatically restores some of the target's HP at the start of every turn.
- Auto-Revive: Allows the target to instantly revive if killed.

- Matt: The de factor leader of the group, a skilled swordsman who is more brawn than brains. Most of his abilities involve dealing heavy, concentrated damage to a single target.
- Natalie: A mage who acts as the group's support unit. She has lots of abilities that help the team by healing or buffing them, but also has a good number of attacks that can damage many foes at once.

Equips[]
Equips (short for Equipments) are items that can be equipped to your party members to alter their stats and resistances to make them better suited for fighting certain types of enemies (for example, using equips that boost Holy resistance are good to use in areas like the Lost Ruins or the Temple of Godcat - Mountain Section where Holy enemies are common). Equips can be leveled up by using crafting items to upgrade them.
Hats and Armors are articles of clothing that mainly serve to add resistances, buff stats, and boost certain skills. Weapons (Swords, Staffs, Guns, and Bows) function the same way but are also imbued with a specific element, thus providing further boosts to certain skills and attacks. These equips can be upgraded up to Level 5.
Flairs, a new type of Equip introduced in this game, are small badges or bobbles that provide even further (albeit more minor) buffs, mostly stuff like extra resistance to a single element or the ability to randomly automatically use a certain skill on some turns. Each character can be equipped with three Flairs. These equips can only be upgraded up to Level 3, but they require less items to upgrade than other types of equips.
Note: Equip names in BOLD are exclusive to the premium version.

Contains many powerful enemies, all of which scale to your level, packed into battles with huge amounts of waves. Also contains classic bosses returning from the first three EBF games, as well as upgraded versions of the bosses of EBF4. Near the summit of the mountain, there is a room where you must fight the Dark Players, evil undead versions of the four heroes, to continue to the top of the mountain. Bosses[]
Standard Bosses[]
Mighty Oak[]
Mighty Oak is a massive treant who is the boss of Ashwood Forest. He's not a hostile creature, he's simply a forest guardian who battles adventurers to test their strength to make sure they can survive the more dangerous lands beyond the forest. During battle, Mighty Oak isn't particularly difficult to beat, but he does use very hard-hitting physical and Earth attacks, making it a necessity to keep your party's defense high. Your best bet is to master physical defense the best you can, as there aren't many Earth-resistant equips available this early in the game. Attack-wise, Fire and Poison attacks work best against Mighty Oak.
Although Mighty Oak mostly attacks the party himself, he'll sometimes summon weak enemies to back him up. These include Wooden Idols, Green and Red Bushes, Fluffy Bats, and Red Wasps - all of which can be disposed of quickly and easily.
Crystal Golem[]
The Crystal Golem is an ancient golem who's lived underground in Crystal Caverns for millions of years, thus acting as the boss of that area. Being capable of switching between three different elemental forms, the Crystal Golem is far more formidable than any of the normal Golem enemies and should be approached with caution. During battle, it switches between its three forms, those being Ice, Fire, and Thunder - this is indicated by the big crystal on the golem's back: blue for Ice, red for Fire, and yellow for Thunder. The Ice form is weak to Fire, the Fire form is weak to Thunder, and the Thunder form is weak to Ice.
It picks these forms at random unless it takes damage, in which case it cycles once through Ice, Fire, and Thunder in that order before going back to picking forms at random. Each form lets it use different heavy-hitting elemental attacks and summon Bits that match its element. Between these two factors, the Crystal Golem can mow your party members down quickly if you're not careful.
Surviving the Crystal Golem's elemental onslaught can be difficult because you might find yourself having to constantly switch equips to resist whatever element it's currently using, but there are ways to wear it down without too much trouble. Firstly, try to go the jack-of-all-trades route and use combinations of equips that will grant your party members resistance to Ice, Fire, and Thunder all at once (this will require some odd combos, but there are a few equips that actually grant resistance to all three elements on their own) so you take less damage from all its attacks. Secondly, you can use attacks using the two elements that all three of the Crystal Golem's forms are weak to: Water and Bomb. Water attacks are especially helpful here since their ability to inflict the Wet status can set up combo opportunities for Thunder or Ice attacks if the Crystal Golem switches to the right element.
Praetorian[]
The Praetorian is a huge, powerful robot built in the Waste Disposal Plant. Unfortunately, it was hacked and turned evil by a mysterious computer virus. Even more unfortunately, the Praetorian is a very heavy hitter that's also good at buffing itself and its mechanical flunkies. Between its own attacks - many of which are similar to Lance's skills - and the enemies it constantly summons, having high Bomb, Fire, and especially Thunder resistance is key to survival in this battle of man versus machine. Thankfully, the Praetorian is also weak to a handful of elements, allowing you to damage it substantially with Thunder, Bomb, Wind, and Water attacks.
The enemies that the Praetorian can summon include Steel Fish, Drill Bots, and all three types of Turrets. Most of these enemies can be picked off fairly easily using multi-striking attacks, but Dish Turrets should be destroyed immediately as their disruptive attacks can seriously hamper your party, leaving them helpless against the Praetorian.
As long as you have high Bomb, Fire, and Thunder resistance, the Praetorian's elemental attacks shouldn't be too much to worry about, but it can still be a very formidable foe. For one thing, the Praetorian can use some powerful physical attacks, including a dash attack that has a small chance of causing Instant Death. These attacks make it necessary to make use of healing and Auto-Revive skills to avoid being clobbered. It's also important to know how to deal with the Praetorian's buffs - Dispelling the Praetorian is crucial to mitigate the amount of damage you'll take from its attacks, and buffing your own party members isn't a bad idea either.
By far the largest threat the Praetorian poses is its ability to use its Ion Cannon - the same attack that Lance uses as a Limit Break - to deal massive Thunder damage to the party with a very high chance to Stun. This attack does require the Praetorian to Charge itself first, giving you some time to buff up and prepare for the devastating attack. Ideally, your party should be fully healed and have buffed magic defense before the Praetorian uses Ion Cannon.
The Glitch[]
The Glitch (labeled in-game as ??.@\'¬?]-?e??255) is a sentient computer virus that somehow attained a physical form. It was the virus responsible for all the robots in the Waste Disposal Plant becoming hostile, and thus can be found and battled in a secret room in that area. The Glitch is extremely dangerous because it, along with the two smaller Glitches that appear alongside it, can kill one of your party members in a single hit with its attacks. It also absorbs all ten elements in the game, making it vulnerable only to non-elemental attacks. For this reason, you should fight the Glitch with equips that boost non-elemental skills, like Star Shower or Sawblade, and healing skills. Using equips, skills, and summons that apply Revive and Morale to your party are especially useful since they can help ensure your party survives the deadly attacks of the Glitch and its minions, and not have to waste turns using consumable items and/or skills to bring them back to life.
When dealing with the Glitch, the first thing you should do is get rid of the smaller Glitch minions. Once they're gone, the Glitch on its own can only kill one party member per turn. This can be done with either heavy-hitting single target attacks or high-damage multi-target attacks that can shred through the whole squad. You should also buff your party's accuracy, as the Glitch also has high evade and is immune to debuffs. High-accuracy attacks like Quick Slash, Snipe, and Piercing Shot will also work. By employing all of these strategies, you can actually take down the Glitch somewhat easily since compared to the game's other bosses, the Glitch's health isn't all that high.
Rafflesia[]
Rafflesia is a giant, smelly, man-eating plant monster who lives in Lankyroot Jungle and controls all the hostile Flowers there, encountered at the end of the areas as a boss. He and the Flowers he constantly summons are all powerhouses, able to use very strong elemental attacks against your party. Strong Poison resistance is vital here since almost all of Rafflesia's attacks are powerful Poison attacks. Using equips that boost Fire, Wind, and/or Ice attacks are recommended as well, since every enemy in this fight is weak to these elements (aside from the ice-themed Frose, which is immune to Fire and absorbs Ice). When dealing with the Flowers, the light-themed Heasies are by far the most important targets to focus on destroying in order to prevent them from healing Rafflesia. Although, Rafflesia can still heal himself and sometimes remove negative status effects from himself and other enemies present in the fight.
While Heasies must be destroyed at all costs, other types of Flowers can be left alone depending on your strategy. One effective strategy in particular is to tank resistances to the element of one Flower type and let Flowers of that type stay alive. This works especially well with Froses, as they frequently use Water attacks that get everyone Wet, which allows you to deal greater damage to Rafflesia when using Ice attacks on him. Berserking Rafflesia and debuffing his attack is also a good strategy, as this limits him to using physical attacks that can be dealt with fairly easily - but keep in mind that Froses can thwart this strategy since their Water attacks can nullify the Berserk status.
Beholder[]
The Beholder is a grotesque, evolved form of the Eyeball enemy. It can be found in the second Lava Cave (the one in Crystal Caverns) as an optional boss, but you have to fight a wave of regular Eyeballs first before the Beholder itself joins the fray. Besides using the laser attacks that normal Eyeballs use, the Beholder has tentacles it can use to attack by whipping, stabbing, or - disturbingly enough - making love to the players. The tentacle attacks have a chance to inflict Poison, especially the love-making "Censored" attack. Thus, using equips with high Poison resistance is a good idea. Fortunately, the Beholder is weak to a slew of elements, those being Thunder, Ice, Earth, Water, Holy, and Dark, so any attacks with those elements should be enough to wear it down.
Godcat[]
The ancient human-hating goddess of cats and creator of Earth, recently revived by some of her most devoted cat followers. She plans on destroying the Earth and must be stopped at all costs! She shows up twice in the game as a throwaway boss to taunt the heroes before being confronted at the top of her temple at full power as the final boss.
First Ambush - Light Godcat[]
The team runs into Godcat for the first time in Crystal Caverns, just after defeating the Crystal Golem. Here they are ambushed by Light Godcat, the first of Godcat's two spiritual forms. Being a goddess, her health and evade are incredibly high, making it literally impossible to hit let alone kill her. Her damage output is just as high, as she's able to use ludicrously powerful Holy attacks that are almost guaranteed to kill one of your party members in a single hit! Luckily, you're not required to kill Godcat to win this fight - you simply have to survive Godcat's attacks (using Revive is advisable for this), and then after three turns Godcat will give up and flee, leaving you to contend with some Blue Crystals which use powerful Ice magic.
Second Ambush - Dark Godcat[]
Godcat jumps the team again in Lankyroot Jungle's Lava Cave, this time in her dark form. The battle here is mostly the same as the one with Light Godcat, except this time she uses Dark attacks and summons Red Crystals for you to fight after she makes her exit.
Final Fight[]
At the very top of the Temple of Godcat is where you finally face the wrathful feline deity in a real battle. Unlike the previous three final bosses of Epic Battle Fantasy, Godcat is fought across a grueling seven waves - each wave featuring a different form - instead of just one, making this an endurance battle more than anything else. Better get comfy once you begin this epic fight, 'cause you're gonna be there for quite a while!
Wave 1: Opening Remarks[]
In this first wave, both of Godcat's spirit forms will attack you with their respective elements. This time around, they shouldn't be able to one-hit kill your party members since at this point your team level is probably very high (most likely somewhere in the 30s), and you will likely have found some good Holy- and Dark-resistant equips. As with the ambushes, you can't hurt Godcat in this wave, so you should focus on keeping your party alive and using buffing spells to prepare for the next wave, which begins after Godcat's first turn...
Wave 2: The Creator[]
After Godcat has her fun taunting you with her invincible spirit forms, she'll bring forth the Creator - a mighty machine of the heavens, piloted by Light Godcat. The Creator begins its fight with two Blades of Heaven and two Blue Crystals by its side; when those are destroyed, it can summon more of them, alongside a wide range of high-tier enemies including Gold Fish, Mage Dogs, Spirits, White Clays, Blue Clays, Yellow Clays, Frozen Eyes, Angel Eyes, and even Viking Monoliths and Ancient Monoliths. If these extra enemies get too overwhelming, use Limit Breaks like Ragnarok or Oblivion, or Summons like the Protector or the Cosmic Monolith. The Creator itself uses powerful physical, Thunder, Bomb, Ice, and Wind attacks, and it can sometimes Charge itself to use a deadly Holy attack. When Charging, the Creator also casts Guardian on itself to buff its defense, magic defense, and evade. These buffs can't be debuffed, so you should focus on debuffing the Creator's magic attack while also buffing your party's magic defense to soften the blow of this Holy attack. When using said attack, the Creator fires a massive laser beam that deals immense Holy damage with a very high chance to Syphon your party members. On harder difficulties, the Creator can also use the Absolute Zero Limit Break to deal huge Ice damage to your party.
Thankfully, the Creator has a good amount of weaknesses - Thunder, Earth, Bomb, Water, and Dark - thus giving you plenty of options to work with, although Bomb and Dark are your best bets since the Creator is most weak to those two elements. Make sure to use weapon equips that boost the power of these elements so you can chip away the Creator's health quickly.
Wave 3: First Interlude[]
With the Creator gone, Godcat's spirit forms will return to harass you again, this time mocking you for trying to delay the inevitable destruction of Earth. Just like in the first wave, take this time to heal and buff your party, but also hook your heroes up with Dark-resistant equips and Holy weaponry to prepare for the next wave, which takes a darker turn...
Wave 4: The Destroyer[]
Since the Creator couldn't wipe out our heroes, Godcat will now break out one of her more devilish devices - the Destroyer, a massive monstrous skull controlled by Dark Godcat. The Destroyer's fight is similar to the Creator's, but with inverse elements. It begins the battle accompanied by two Blades of Hell and two Red Crystals; once those are gone, it can summon more of those, or it can pick other mid- to high-level enemies including Evil Tails, Black Wasps, Black Clays, Flame Wraiths, Frost Wraiths, Spark Wraiths, and Undying Monoliths. As with Wave 2, Limit Breaks and top-tier Summons can help keep these extra enemies under control if they get too much to handle. As for the Destroyer, the main threat it poses is its ability to inflict all sorts of nasty status effects from its physical, Earth, Fire, Poison, and Dark attacks. The physical and Earth attacks just deal very high damage, but all of the other attacks can inflict defense debuffs, Poison, Burn, Curse, Doom, and even Death! It's important to use the Purify skill and any status-removing consumable items to keep these status effects from getting out of hand so your party doesn't get decimated by the Destroyer. On harder difficulties, the Destroyer can also use the Supernova Limit Break to deal massive Fire damage to your party, with a very high chance to kill the entire party - use Revive to avoid this!
Much like the Creator, though, the Destroyer has several weaknesses you can exploit - Fire, Ice, Earth, and especially Holy. Holy attacks are good for not only dealing high damage to the Destroyer, but also lowering its attack stats and counteracting the attack buffs it sometimes gives itself by inflicting the Weaken and Dispel effects respectively. And although Poison is not one of the Destroyer's weaknesses, using Poison attacks on the Destroyer can help wear its health down.
Wave 5: Final Interlude[]
Once again, Godcat's spirit forms come back for more after the Destroyer goes down. Same song, different verse...focus on healing and buffing your party, and swap some equips around so your Dark and Holy resistances are at their highest. Then take a deep breath and ready yourself for the most dauntingly difficult wave of the entire battle...
Wave 6: The Creator and the Destroyer[]
You read that right...you now have to fight the Creator and the Destroyer at the same time!!! This may seem like an impossible task, but if you play your cards right you'll come out on top. One thing to note is that since both machines are present and occupying one slot each in the battlefield, they can only ever summon two extra enemies to fight with them at a time, so you don't have to worry as much about extra baddies. However, the sheer combined power of the Creator and Destroyer can still wipe you out if you're not careful! To take this dastardly duo down, start with the Destroyer - you won't have to waste turns changing equips this way (you should still have most of the Dark-resistant equips you used during Wave 4 on your party), and the Destroyer's ability to inflict numerous negative status effects makes it the more immediate threat of the two. After the Destroyer is beaten, switch your equips to get your Holy resistance up and get out some Dark weapons, and finish off the Creator.
Wave 7: Closing Statement (You've Won!)[]
Godcat's spirit forms return one last time, but this time she's done fighting. After defeating both of her creations twice, she's come to realize the true value of human determination, and has decided to spare your party. In this wave, Godcat will merely make her closing remarks and then flee, ending the fight and allowing you to see the game's ending.
Premium Bosses[]
Woolly Mammoth[]
Returning from EBF3, the Woolly Mammoth appears in Whitefall as an optional boss. Compared to the last game, the Woolly Mammoth is somewhat less powerful but can still be a formidable adversary due to its very high health and hard-hitting attacks. It uses Earth and Ice attacks, making equips that resist those two elements a good idea, but mostly relies on non-elemental physical attacks. If anything, the thing your party should be most resistant against is Stun, since some of the Mammoth's attacks have a high chance of Stunning your party. It's also capable of debuffing your party's attack and magic attack, making it harder to reliably wear down the Mammoth's health. Using buffs is a good way to help you defeat the Woolly Mammoth, especially defensive buffs which reduce the amount of damage the Mammoth can deal to your party.
Attack-wise, Fire and Poison attacks are most effective against the Mammoth, and the Burn and Poison status effects are great for draining its health over time. Weaken is also helpful since it can reduce the Mammoth's damage output. One more thing to note about this beast is that it's accompanied by two Friend Dogs at the start of the battle. The Friend Dogs should be killed first so they can't use their healing abilities on the Mammoth; fortunately, this is easy to do since Friend Dogs are also weak to Poison.
The Woolly Mammoth appears twice more on Battle Mountain; in the Whitefall Foe Rush, a pair of Woolly Mammoths (without any Friend Dogs) appears as the final wave. Defensive buffs are a must, and you should focus all your attacks on one Mammoth at a time. In the Miniboss Marathon, the Woolly Mammoth appears alongside two Sky Monoliths in place of the Friend Dogs.
Zombie Hydra[]
Returning from EBF2, the Zombie Hydra is an undead three-headed dragon that appears in Graybone Cemetery as an optional boss. Each head acts as an individual unit with its own health bar. However, each head has the ability to revive another head that's been killed, completely restoring all of the dead head's health, so you have to kill them all within one or two turns to prevent any of the beast's heads from being revived. To pull this off, either stick to multi-target attacks or keep alternating between the three heads with single-target attacks to even out the damage done between the three heads. Ideally, you should use Fire and Holy attacks since these two elements are the Zombie Hydra's weaknesses. Be wary, however; if any one of the heads is hit by an especially powerful attack, its neck will be destroyed, leaving it as a floating skull with its evade permanently increased by 50%.
Aside from its reviving abilities, the Zombie Hydra is also a huge threat because of its movepool consisting of very powerful physical, Fire, and Dark attacks, several of which can cause Instant Death while the rest can take out huge chunks of your party members' HP. To counter this, use Fire- and Dark-resistant equips to reduce the Zombie Hydra's magic damage output, and use defense buffs to lower the damage from its physical attacks.
The Zombie Hydra returns on Battle Mountain as the final boss of the Miniboss Marathon, this time with four heads instead of three. Oddly, the first head you kill will never be revived, leaving only the other three to revive each other in battle.
Jack[]
Returning from EBF3, Jack is a giant robotic pumpkin who appears in Lankyroot Jungle as a miniboss. Being a mechanical entity, he's weak to Water, Thunder, and Bomb attacks, so each of the party members should be able to reliably damage him. Attack-wise, he mostly relies on strong physical attacks, weak Fire magic, and the weaponry hidden inside his body, which include a flamethrower and machine guns. However, he can't use those weapons or his magic if you Syphon him.
Every few turns, Jack can call in reinforcements. These reinforcements consist of Steel Fish and Drill Bots - relatively weak enemies - but you'll still want to take them out as quickly as possible so you can focus on Jack. Defense buffs can be helpful too.
Sand Worm[]
Returning from EBF2, the Sand Worm is a revolting sand-dwelling worm that appears in Goldenbrick Resort as a miniboss, accompanied by its tail, the Sand Tail, which acts as a separate unit. The Sand Worm itself uses physical, Wind, Earth, and Poison attacks, while the Sand Tail uses Earth and Poison attacks with a chance to Stun or Stagger your party members. Even though the Sand Tail behaves as its own unit, it's still attached to the Sand Worm (unlike the Evil Worms and their Evil Tails), and so can never truly be killed; if you bring the Sand Tail's HP down to 0, it'll just hide underground temporarily before reemerging. Thankfully, both the Sand Worm and its tail share the same weaknesses - Water, Ice, Earth, and Poison - so multi-target skills with any of those elements can come in handy.
Both the Sand Worm and the Sand Tail have high attack power but low accuracy, making evade and defense buffs useful for making your party even harder to hit. Debuffs are not ideal as the Sand Worm is somewhat resistant to them. Additionally, the Sand Worm can inflict several different status effects on your party, including Poison, Stun, and acucracy and attack debuffs, so keep this in mind and use status-removing skills/consumables when necessary to avoid being crippled too severely by the worm.
You may be tempted to kill the Sand Tail whenever possible to make the battle a bit less hectic, but this is really only feasible once; the first time you kill the Sand Tail, it'll come back after three turns...but every time after that, it returns after just one turn, making it basically pointless to keep killing it again and again. Instead, debuff the Sand Tail's attack and accuracy, and focus your attacks on the Sand Worm. If you want extra insurance, use skills/summons that grant the party Auto-Revive and Morale to reduce the danger of being killed.
Protector[]
Returning from EBF3, the Protector is a huge stone robot built in ancient times to protect the Kitten Kingdom, appearing in the Temple of Godcat's lower section as an optional boss. Much like Jack, it's weak to Bomb, Thunder, and Water attacks, as well as Ice. Using Bomb abilities are your best ability here since a lot of the enemies the Protector summons can be easily disposed of with Bomb attacks. Most of its attacks consist of physical attacks that can deal non-elemental, Earth, or Bomb damage as it attacks your party members with its drills and cannons. However, it can sometimes spend a turn to suck in tons of energy particles to charge up its energy cannon, which it will then fire on its next turn to deal massive magic damage that can either be Thunder or Bomb. If the energy cannon fires a Thunder beam, it has a high chance of Stunning the party; if it fires a Bomb beam, it has a high chance of dispelling the party.
Aside from these powerful attacks, the Protector can also summon Runes to aid it. These Runes will always be Plasma Runes and/or Barrier Runes. Get rid of these Runes as soon as you can, because they're capable of buffing the enemy team's attack and defense respectively, which can make them a nuisance if not dealt with.
Armored Oak[]
Armored Oak is a stronger version of Mighty Oak, encountered on Battle Mountain. Hence his name, he's covered almost entirely in metal armor, and also has an arm cannon in place of the hand shield that the original Mighty Oak has. Much like his weaker counterpart in the main game, Armored Oak is the easiest one of the upgraded campaign bosses on Battle Mountain, but he's still a great force to be reckoned with. He uses very strong physical, Earth, and Bomb attacks, many of which can Stagger your party. And to top it off, some of his strongest attacks are multi-target attacks! Earth and Bomb resistance is crucial to surviving Armored Oak's onslaught of brute force and artillery. Fortunately, Armored Oak is extremely weak to Poison, and also somewhat less weak to Earth and Dark, giving you some options to wear him down. Obviously, Poison is great for eating away at his health, while some Earth attacks can make him Tired - a status effect that Armored Oak is also severely weak to.
Just like Mighty Oak, Armored Oak sometimes summons enemies for backup - these enemies include Copper Fish, Steel Fish, and sometimes Wooden Idols. The Fish shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you have high Bomb resistance. But if a Wooden Idol shows up, you might want to leave it alone since it's the weakest type of enemy Armored Oak can summon, so letting Wooden Idols keep filling up the extra slots will result in Armored Oak not having any room to summon stronger enemies.
Diamond Golem[]
The Diamond Golem is a stronger version of the Crystal Golem, encountered on Battle Mountain. Unlike its predecessor, the DIamond Golem is attuned to a specific element - Holy - which can actually make it easier to fight since you never have to worry about switching equips to exploit elemental weaknesses. However, it can still use a wide range of elemental skills, including Holy, Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Earth attacks. It's weak to Water and Dark, but absorbs Holy and Earth and is immune to all the other elements, so use equips to boost your party's Water and Dark skills, and to boost resistance against Holy (Holy is the most important element to defend against since the Diamond Golem's Holy attacks are the most devastating of all, as they can Weaken or Syphon your party).
The Diamond Golem can also summon Bits for backup; unlike the Crystal Golem, though, it can summon any of the four types of Bits, picked at random. It initially only spawns one Bit per turn, but after losing half its health it'll instead summon two Bits each turn, with one always being a Diamond Bit while the other is picked at random. Syphoning the Bits is a very good idea, as it'll make them useless and prevent the Diamond Golem from being able to summon more of them.
When its health gets low, it'll bring the Genesis Limit Break into its moveset, and once it's very close to death, it will only use Genesis. This deals massive Holy damage to your party and can make the Diamond Golem really dangerous at this point unless you either have high Holy resistance (or better yet, Holy immunity) or use Limit Breaks to obliterate the Diamond Golem before it has a chance to start using Genesis.
Praetorian MKII[]
The Praetorian MKII is a stronger version of the Praetorian, fought on Battle Mountain. What sets this mechanical monstrosity from its predecessor is that its body is infused with dark matter, allowing it to use powerful Dark attacks as opposed to the mixed range of elements that the original Praetorian has. These attacks can debuff, Syphon, and Doom your party members, making the Praetorian MKII that much more dangerous to fight considering this fact combined with its improved ability to buff itself and its robo-goons. Dark resistance is absolutely vital to surviving.
Fortunately, the Praetorian MKII has no resistance against Dispel, allowing you to get rid of its buffs easily, but this is a small plus among a sea of minuses. The Praetorian MKII is only weak to Water and Wind; it absorbs Dark and is either resistant or immune to every other element. Its evade is ridiculously high...almost as high as the Cosmic Monolith's evade, in fact! Aside from its Dark attacks, the Praetorian MKII also has some brand-new, stronger non-elemental attacks up its silvery sleeve, with the most notable one being the Boomerang Laser - a physics-defying weapon that shoots a laser beam outward, only to have it fly right back into the Praetorian MKII, thus allowing it to hit one of your party members twice! And lastly, the enemies it summons for backup consist exclusively of Razor Claws - powerful drones that are just as good with Dark magic as the Praetorian MKII itself! They also have pretty high evade, so accuracy buffs and accuracy-boosting equips are essential.
Overall, the Praetorian MKII and its Razor Claws have very high attacking power but not so high accuracy, so using evade buffs, Morale, and Auto-Revive can prove helpful. And while the Praetorian MKII is immune to being Syphoned, the Razor Claws aren't, so you can Syphon them so they're limited to using weak physical attacks.
Rainbow Rafflesia[]
Rainbow Rafflesia is a stronger version of Rafflesia, fought in Battle Mountain. Fitting his polychromatic motif, he has a whole "rainbow" of elemental attacks, as opposed to regular Rafflesia who only has Poison attacks. Outside of Poison, Rainbow Rafflesia's arsenal also includes Fire, Thunder, Ice, Water, Earth, and Wind attacks, along with a non-elemental magic attack that has a high chance of Stunning your party members. His resistances are a little better, too - he's only weak to Wind, but he also only has two resistances, those being Holy and Dark. Picking the right equips to resist Rainbow Rafflesia's attacks might seem tricky at first due to the wide variety of elements at his command, but it's actually not that hard. Keep in mind that there are several equips that boost multiple elemental resistances at once, so if you set up the right combinations, you can easily boost your resistances enough to adequately resist all of Rainbow Rafflesia's attacks. As for weaponry, you don't have to worry about using anything specific due to Rainbow Rafflesia only having only two resistances.
Unlike his normal counterpart, Rainbow Rafflesia almost exclusively uses multi-target attacks that don't inflict status effects very often. You'll mostly just have to rely on healing and Regen spells for this battle, although status-cleansing abilities like Purify aren't a bad idea either. Another major difference about Rainbow Rafflesia is that he only ever summons Rainblooms for backup, whose attacks are just as diverse as their leafy master's and also have the same weakness and resistances as him. The Rainblooms self-destruct if you Berserk or Syphon them, dealing non-elemental damage to a random party member; this may or may not be preferable to fighting them normally.
Dark Matt[]
Dark Matt is Matt's evil counterpart, encountered in the heart of Battle Mountain. Much like his heroic counterpart, Dark Matt has high health, attack, and defense, but his magic attack, magic defense, and evade leave much to be desired. As such, magic attacks are your best bet against Dark Matt. Be wary, though - Dark Matt can summon Viking Monoliths, Undying Monoliths, and Sky Monoliths to bring in some magical wrath against your party to make up for his own lack of magic power, and he can use a lot of the same attacks that Matt uses. He can eat consumable items to heal himself, buff his defense and magic defense, and make himself Brave, and progressively attacks more aggressively as his HP goes down. When his health gets low, Dark Matt starts using some of Matt's most powerful skills, including Giga Drill, Revenge, and Legend.
Being an evil party member, Dark Matt has his own Limit Break bar which builds up as he takes damage. Once it's full, he can use Cleaver or Annihilate on your party.
Dark Natalie[]
Dark Natalie is Natalie's evil counterpart, encountered in the heart of Battle Mountain. Just like Natalie herself, Dark Natalie's magic attack and magic defense are the highest of the four Dark Players, but her health, attack, and defense are the lowest, so physical attacks are the way to go for defeating her. Dark Natalie uses a lot of the same elemental spells as Natalie, and tends to favor multi-target attacks. Her most common methods of attack include Fire, Ice, and Dark magic attacks, but can also use a powerful Dark physical attack. She can also eat consumable items to heal herself and buff her accuracy and evade, and can Berserk herself by Defending. For extra magic firepower, she can also summon Red Crystals and Blue Crystals, always summoning more when the ones in battle are destroyed.
Being an evil party member, Dark Natalie has her own Limit Break bar which builds up as she takes damage. Once it's full, she can use Supernova, Absolute Zero, or Black Hole on your party.
Dark Lance[]
Dark Lance is Lance's evil counterpart, encountered in the heart of Battle Mountain. His high accuracy and attack are on par with regular Lance's, and he mostly relies on Fire, Thunder, and Dark attacks that mirror the ones Lance uses. All of his normal gun attacks, which are Dark-elemental, have a chance to inflict Instant Death; this combined with his super high accuracy makes him a very dangerous foe to contend with. On top of that, his other attacks can debuff and inflict bad status effects like Burn and Poison on your party members, and he's able to use an ability that buffs his attack, magic attack, accuracy, and evade. And worst of all, Dark Lance also summons Defenders, whose physical attacking power is almost as high as his!
Being an evil party member, Dark Lance has his own Limit Break bar which builds up as he takes damage. Once it's full, he can use Nuke or Ion Cannon on your party.
Dark Anna[]
Dark Anna is Anna's evil counterpart, encountered in the heart of Battle Mountain. Similar to normal Anna, Dark Anna has high accuracy and evade, and she uses a myriad of elemental attacks - mostly Thunder, Ice, Earth, and Wind - that can inflict all sorts of nasty status effects on your party, including Stun, Freeze, and Tired. All her normal attacks are Poison-elemental, and they can Poison or Doom your party members. Additionally, she can eat consumable items to heal and Bless herself, as well as buff her defense and magic defense. For extra support, Dark Anna can summon Evil Worms and Undead Bears.
Being an evil party member, Dark Anna has her own Limit Break bar which builds up as she takes damage. Once it's full, she can use Mother Earth or Power Blast on your party.

Glitches[]
- The Gold Dragon was supposed to be able to heal the entire enemy team in battle, but it only ever heals itself because of a programming error.
- The Barrier Rune enemy is supposed to self-destruct if its health gets too low, but due to a programming error it instead acts as if it had been Berserked, only using physical attacks once it's low on health.
Trivia[]
- Several of EBF4's characters, including Anna, Godcat, and some of the game's enemies were teased in Bullet Heaven, which had been released several years prior.
- Aside from Anna, EBF4 was also planned to introduce a fifth party member that would attack with spears as their main weapon, but that character was scrapped early on.
- As such, spears were also supposed to be introduced as a new class of weapons but were scrapped as well. The only trace of them in the game is a pair of weapons (the Lance of Creation and the Blade of Destruction) that are listed in Godcat's besitary entries as potential drops, but they both have a 0% chance of dropping so it's impossible to obtain them.
- The Dog enemies introduced in this game were supposed to appear in EBF3, but were scrapped from that game.
- Besides the three Bear types that appear as enemies in this game, three more types were planned but didn't make the cut. The scrapped Bear variants include the Evergreen Bear (a plant-themed Bear that would've used Poison attacks), the Island Bear (a tropical-themed bear that would've used Water attacks), and the Mountain Bear (a stone-themed Bear that would've used Earth attacks).
