Flying Candy is a chain-reaction Flash game developed by SilenGames and published on Newgrounds on April 23, 2011. It can be considered a sequel to Icy Gifts since it features identically gameplay but under a different premise, as the game revolves around collecting candy instead of destroying ice floes and saving Santa Claus.
Although Flash was discontinued on January 12 2021, Flying Candy is still playable through BlueMaxima’s Flashpoint and the Newgrounds Player.
Flying Candy has a set of 40 levels unlocked one after another; in each level, your goal is to start a chain reaction big enough to destroy the minimum amount of objects to meet the level's quota, which is always equal to half the total number of objects in the level. Meeting this quota earns you one star for the level upon completing it, but you can earn two additional stars by reaching further milestones (75% of all objects destroyed for the second star, 100% of all objects destroyed for the third star). Most levels contain a cluster of variously sized bubbles and various kinds of bombs that can help you pop the bubbles in different ways, although a few levels only contain either all bubbles or all bombs.
To start a chain reaction, you just need to click anywhere on the screen, and it'll trigger an explosion that sets off anything caught in the blast. Bubbles will simply pop and release candies (or, for the bigger ones, just lose a layer) when triggered, while bombs will detonate and set off extra effects depending on the type of bomb. Popped bubbles also release candy you can collect by hovering your cursor over them as they fall. After each level, you can visit the upgrade shop and use your candies to improve the effectiveness of your bombs and other gameplay features to make popping bubbles easier.
