Gameplay[]

Rogue Soul has you take control of the titular character, Rogue Soul, as he runs through the city looking to raise the bounty on his head to 5,000 Soulons in order to become more famous than Borin Hood, the current most famous criminal in the city.  Throughout the game, he runs automatically and defeats enemies on contact unless they hit him with one of their attacks.  The objective is to rack up as many Soulons on Rogue Soul's bounty by collecting treasure, defeating enemies, and getting as far as you can without getting killed by an enemy or hazard - Rogue Soul slowly earns Soulons on his bounty while running in addition to earning some whenever he defeats enemies or collects treasure.  Every so often, Rogue Soul enters a new zone, which acts as a checkpoint.  If Rogue Soul is defeated, you can use a continue to respawn at the beginning of the current zone you were in.  You get two continues per game; after being defeated a third time, you start over.

Enemies[]

  • Soldier: Uses melee attacks with his sword.
  • Spearman: Uses thrust attacks with his spear.
  • Archer: Shoots arrows in an upward arc.
  • Captain: Uses a dash attack when you get close.
  • Brute: Performs downward swings with his axe; this attack will damage you unless you slide into the Brute or hit him with a projectile.
  • Assassin: Jumps out from the background and throws a dagger at you from behind. If you manage to dodge the dagger, it might wind up hitting another enemy instead.
  • Black Captain: A more powerful Captain that stands in one spot but attacks by slamming his sword into the ground to send a shockwave your way, and then continuously swinging his sword up and down to try and hit you.
