Gameplay[]

Scary Maze Game likely needs little introduction due to the extreme amount of popularity it gained in the late 2000s and early 2010s. On the surface it appears to be a simple maze game in which the player must navigate their cursor from one size of the screen to the other while sticking to the coloured path and not touching the black edges. Whilst the first two levels are fairly simple with wider paths, the difficulty is ramped up in the third level, forcing the player to move closer to their screen in order to better move their cursor through the very narrow path.

It is on this third level that they player will be shocked with a jumpscare, featuring a loud screaming sound and an image of Regan MacNeil from The Exorcist movie. Many players of this game who experienced the jumpscare would prank their friends by asking them to play the game without warning them about the jumpsacre and waiting to see their reaction. Numerous recordings of people’s reactions to the game were uploaded to YouTube, some of which receiving millions of views. This game is remembered by many who grew up in the 2000s and played it due to how much the jumpscare shocked them.

Controls[]

The only controls used in Scary Maze Game is movement of the mouse in order to guide the cursor to the end of each level.
