SpongeBob SquarePants: Rock Collector is a game developed for the Nickelodeon website. It centers around an anchovy miner looking to gather a collection of SpongeBob-themed rocks by exploring various mines beneath Bikini Bottom.

Gameplay[]
The objective of SpongeBob SquarePants: Rock Collector is to collect at least one of every type of rock specimen in the game; there's no official ending but the game is considered complete once you've obtained all the rock types, fully explored all the levels, and bought out all the upgrades. There are four different areas to explore in the game; each mine has three levels and ten types of rocks to discover. Each area also has a mixture of normal dirt, which can be broken by any means, and Special Dirt which can only be broken by a pickaxe that's been sufficiently upgraded.
When first starting the game, you can only explore the first level of the first area, Rock Bottom, but you can unlock more locations through various means; new levels can be reached simply by reaching the bottom of the screen, while new areas are unlocked by either finding a secret tunnel or paying Mr. Krabs to take you to a new area. While exploring an area, you can roam around freely (provided that your pickaxe is strong enough to dig through the area's Special Dirt) and search for rocks to collect. Collected rocks take up slots in your inventory, and when it's full you can return to the surface and open your rocks to see what types of rocks you found and earn money from them to spend on upgrades. Rocks come in four different rarities, each one more elusive but more valuable than the last.
While you're exploring, you'll also need to look out for friends and foes in the mines. SpongeBob and his friends appear throughout the game's areas and will help you out in various ways, but there are also enemies that will pursue you in various ways, trying to attack you and drain your health. If you lose all your health, you get brought back to the surface and lose all the rocks in your inventory.

Upgrades[]
- Mining Gloves: Lets you dig through dirt faster.
- Bigger Bag: Adds more slots to your inventory.
- Auto Rope: Lets you instantly return to the surface whenever you want instead of having to go back to the ladder at the top of the level.
- Jetpack: Lets you fly in midair.
- Stronger Pickaxe: Makes your pickaxe strong enough to dig through tougher Special Dirt.
Friends[]
- SpongeBob: Fully heals you if your health isn't full.
- Patrick: Will offer you a new rock you haven't discovered yet, in exchange for one rock from your collection.
- Squidward: Will instantly bring you to the surface in exchange for 25 coins.
- Sandy: Gives you various missions to complete, and then gives you coins for completing them.
- Mr. Krabs: Will take you to a new area you haven't discovered yet in exchange for 200 coins.
Enemies[]
- Cave Dweller: Runs back and forth, and chases after you if you're nearby.
- Sea Urchin: Crawls along the floor, walls, and ceiling.
- Scallop: Floats in the air and flies after you if you're nearby.
- Nematode: Jumps around and chases after you if you're nearby.
Rock Rarities[]
- Common: Spawns very frequently in the mines. Looks like an ordinary brown stone when first discovered. Worth 100 coins when opened.
- Rare: Spawns less frequently than a Common rock, but still appears fairly often. Looks like a pink stone with small crystals embedded in it when first discovered. Worth 300 coins when opened.
- Epic: Doesn't spawn very often. Looks like a blue crystal when first discovered. Worth 500 coins when opened.
- Legendary: Almost never spawns in the mines - you're usually more likely to get one of these from Patrick than by digging one out yourself. Looks like a gold crystal when first discovered. Worth 1,000 coins when opened.
